Hi, I’m Matt, and the last several years have taken me from the classroom to the world of software development—though in many ways, those two paths are more connected than you might think.

For several years, I worked as an English teacher, helping students of all ages—from young learners to seniors—develop their language skills or prepare for official exams like IELTS, or the suite of Cambridge Exams.

But teaching was only part of my role. As an Assistant Director at a language academy in Spain, I mentored junior teachers, coordinated extracurricular English programs with schools, worked closely with client relations, and helped students and parents navigate the path to their goals.

A few years ago I retrained as a software developer and have worked on several projects since. However, a part of me missed being involved in language learning, either as a teacher or student, so over time, I became more interested in the tools we used for language learning and the possibilities of technology in education generally. I’m constantly learning and experimenting with new technologies, especially those that can enhance language learning experiences.

This brings me to Parlanchín, my initiative for creating language-learning applications. My goal is to bridge the gap between education and technology, crafting tools that make language learning more interactive, accessible, and engaging.

These days, I wear two hats—developer and educator—. Whether I’m writing code or teaching, my focus remains the same: playing in the intersection where language, culture and technology meet and helping people communicate, learn, and grow.

If you’re interested in language learning, technology, or where the two intersect, feel free to connect on linkedin.
